VICTORIA DAY WEEKEND!
Hey North Frontenac neighbours and friends,
Bad news always seems to travel faster than good news, doesn’t it? So I figured it was time for a quick post to share some of the really nice things happening right here in our township.
This Thursday and Friday night (May 22 & 23), the North Frontenac Amateur Astronomy Club is hosting stargazing at the Astronomy Park. Jupiter and Venus are going to be putting on a show under some of the darkest skies in southern Ontario. It’s completely free, family-friendly, and a perfect excuse to get outside with the kids or grandkids and just enjoy the wonder of it all. Bring binoculars or a telescope if you have one!
Looking further ahead, we’ve got Summerfest 2026 on Saturday, July 18 at the Clar-Mill Hall in Plevna (11am–4pm). The township is looking for local vendors, businesses, and not-for-profits to take part — demos, activities, shopping local, food, and good old community fun. These days always bring everyone together.
We also have the Line Spike Frontenac music festival coming up June 26–28 nearby — family-friendly with great Canadian artists and a real positive vibe.
And on the practical side, it was great to see the township receive over a million dollars in provincial funding recently for stormwater upgrades in Plevna. That’s real progress protecting homes and improving our infrastructure.
Spring is here, the lakes are beautiful, the trails are calling, and our community groups (from the astronomy club to the little theatre folks and everyone in between) are busy making this place even better. It’s these kinds of things that remind me why I love calling North Frontenac home.
